A future that has already left evidence, and cities that remember what people cannot.
Enter the novel
In Caldera, the neon never sleeps — and time has begun to misbehave.
In 2032, Ellis Veidt, a former post-punk frontman turned private investigator, receives an unmarked envelope containing photographs from a crime scene that has not yet occurred. The woman pictured is a stranger. The date stamped on the evidence lies eight years in the future.
A future already recorded
The woman is Dr Adrienne Calloway, an astrophysicist whose damaged reputation has made her work difficult to hear. Her investigation of Orochi-7, an object that refuses familiar explanation, brings institutional ambition and private desperation together. As she continues, the boundary between a predicted event and an event already lived begins to loosen.
In 2086, the post-collapse metropolis of Nyx presents a different face of the same mystery. Architect Dominic Karras discovers patterns concealed within his own work, a signature that should never have been there and a life that seems to belong to someone else. Between these worlds moves Shelley, carrying a difficult legacy through the city’s unseen places.
Cities, memory and time
Caldera and Nyx are separated by decades yet joined by recurring details, names, images and losses. Architecture, music and personal memory behave like pieces of a design whose maker cannot be identified.
What if tomorrow had already happened, and someone had designed it that way?
A time-fractured neo-noir
This Cold Elegy is a speculative neo-noir mystery of damaged lives, mutable records and philosophical dread — a world in which a city may remember what its inhabitants have forgotten.
